France's Falkland Forays

Image

Owner/Manager: Graham France

Graham France, long-term Falklands resident and Falklands Tourism accredited tour guide, offers Stanley highlight tours, including:

  • Christ Church Cathedral, built over a century ago, where he is the Rector's Warden, Mike Butcher's outdoor whaling museum with skeletons and skulls of these mighty marine mammals as well as the harpoon guns used in hunting them to near extinction.
  • Lady Elizabeth, close up views of a beached iron-hulled tall ship, built in Sunderland in 1879 and still with masts and cross trees.
  • Gypsy Cove, site of Stanley's nearest colony of magellanic penguins, the only local species to nest underground, together with colonies of king cormorants and night herons.
  • Speak to Graham too about a visit to Stanley Golf Club, thought to be one of the world's most southerly courses, of which he is a former captain.
