Golden Fleece Expedition Cruises

ImageImageImage

We specialise in boat-based expeditions and tourism in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula. Our expedition vessel, GOLDEN FLEECE, is a 19.5 metre steel ocean-going motorsailer, designed to carry private and commercial expeditions in comfort and safety anywhere in the world. Skipper, Jérome Poncet, has twenty years' experience of providing boat-based logistics and consultancy in remote locations at the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctic, working with organisations such as the British Antarctic Survey, IMAX and BBC TV Natural History Unit

Available year-round with a fully-qualified skipper and crew based in the Falkland Islands, GOLDEN FLEECE is an ideally equipped base for:

  • On-location cinema and television crews
  • Photographic expeditions
  • Coastal and marine wildlife surveys
  • Exploration in remote areas
  • Mountaineering and skiing
  • Diving
  • Wilderness leisure cruises
  • Kayaking and trekking
  • Falkland Islands Expeditions

Daily local flights operating between Stanley and the tourist lodges and self-catering cottages provide the option of combining land-based stays with excursions on GOLDEN FLEECE - an ideal way to travel to the more inaccessible and remote western islands with their huge albatross and rockhopper penguin colonies, fur seal and sealion rookeries. Or join GOLDEN FLEECE in Stanley for a tour of the Islands - a simple and cost-effective solution to both your accommodation and local transport logistics, as well as being the best way to see the wildlife and scenery.

South Georgia Expeditions

Just 4 days sailing from Stanley, South Georgia is the destination par excellence for any wilderness enthusiast. Circumnavigate the Island, visit the administrative centre and museum at Grytviken, the abandoned whaling stations and spectacular concentrations of wildlife - wandering albatross, king penguins, fur seals and elephant seals. Wildlife numbers peak during the breeding season from October till February, while cross-country skiing and mountaineering are recommended in the late winter and early spring months from August till October.

Antarctic Expeditions Departing from Stanley or South America in December, the Antarctic Peninsula is accessible for 3 to 4 months during the austral summer, with the option of combining a voyage to the ice with a cruise through the Chilean Canals and around Cape Horn on the return leg.
