Travel to the Falkland Islands is serviced either via South America or on a direct flight from the UK.

Via South America - a weekly LAN service links Mount Pleasant, Falkland Islands with Santiago, via Punta Arenas, Chile (stopping once a month at Rio Gallegos, Argentina).

Direct flights from the UK, depart from Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, with three flights per fortnight currently available.

Airport Information, International: Mount Pleasant Airport is a one hour drive from Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands. This airport is a military facility that handles both military air traffic and commercial flights. Further information can be found on the Falkland Facts sheet (PDF File).

Travel from the airport into Stanley can be booked with your tour operator, or directly with Falkland Islands Tours and Travel .

Immigration Requirements: Valid Passports are necessary for all Visitors, Passport Holders from the European Union, most Commonwealth countries, Mercosur, the USA and Canada do not need visas but will be granted a visitors permit on arrival (free of charge and valid for up to one month) if relevant requirements are met. Other nationals must apply for a visa in advance from Falkland House in London (contact reception@falklands.gov.fk) or their country's consulate.

Upon arrival, visitors will need to demonstrate that they have a valid return ticket (or proof of onward travel arrangements), evidence of sufficient funds to cover expenses during the intended period of stay, a valid visa if required and pre-booked accommodation.
