The Jetty Visitor Centre Print E-mail

ImageLocated at the head of the Public Jetty, the Jetty Visitors Centre should be the first stop for anyone visiting the Falklands, no matter how long or short their stay.

The friendly local staff will answer any questions you may have about the Islands. Wall displays also offer comprehensive information of likely interest to the visitor. Topics covered include tour operators, accommodation in Stanley and camp, Falklands woollen goods, Falklands Conservation and examples of local crafts. A large street map of Stanley gives details of shops, restaurants and other services.

ImageMany aspects of Falkland Islands life, history and natural history are covered in a small permanent exhibition, while temporary displays and exhibitions, such as the Falkland Islands Photographic Exhibition are housed throughout the year.

In the Jetty Visitor Centre there are toilets (including for the disabled), telephones and comfortable seating overlooking the harbour. This last feature will be of particular benefit to foot-weary visitors waiting for tenders back to their cruise ship, after what we hope will have been an enjoyable and well-informed visit to our picturesque town.

The Tourist Board office is now upstairs in the Old Philomel store next door to the Jetty Visitor Centre. Internet facilities are available at the rear of the Jetty Centre.
